A Visit! - We can finally shut the bathroom door.

Matt's family came to visit us one Saturday after new years.  They came with snacks, houseplants, and helping hands.

Matt and I have a pretty large collection of cacti and succulents, 

which have been living at his mom's.

This little guy wants re-potting, but it will just have to wait.

We got a bed.

Soon after moving in we became fed up by the cots and airbeds.  It was to be our first trip to IKEA as a couple; Swedish meatballs, confusing fake rooms, unfinished furniture, a sign of things to come?

A sofa, a chest of drawers, the oven.

The first week or so that we were in the cottage there was not a stick of furniture, because well... we didn't have any!

First things first.

When we first moved into Tracy Cottage there were several things that required immediate attention.

The year of 2016 began in the new-to-us house named Tracy Cottage, however with an actual age of about 120 years, it needs some work.  Matt and I made lots of plans and started doing lots of research.  We plan to do most of the work ourselves, learning as we go.  This gives you an idea of what we started with..  Lots of lovely features like wood floors and original fireplaces, as well as some less lovely features like lead paint and years of wallpaper.

So much potential, so much excitement!
